President-elect Donald Trump has said on several occasions that one of the first things he plans to do when he takes office in January is fix the border mess, and the man he has selected as border czar, Tom Homan, has made it clear that he plans to turn things around as quickly as possible.
Homan had some harsh words for the governors who have said they will try to stop Trump’s mass deportation of illegal aliens, telling Fox News: “If they’re not willing to help, then get the hell out of the way because [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] is going to do their job.”
Some of the governors who have pushed back against Trump’s plans to remove illegal aliens include California Governor Gavin Newsom, New York Governor Kathy Hochul, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker.
Trump announced Homan as his border czar on Sunday. He previously served as the acting director of ICE during Trump’s first term as president. He will be tasked with controlling the nation’s borders and ensuring that illegal aliens are sent back to their original country.
The role of border czar is currently held by Kamala Harris, who has made a complete disaster of the nation’s borders. Homan has not been shy when it comes to criticizing the Biden administration’s current border policies. He also thinks that some of the self-proclaimed “sanctuary” cities are having a change of heart after seeing how badly these policies are damaging their cities and will cooperate with the Trump administration on reversing the situation.
He said: “They’re not going to say it, but with all the alien crime and the young women being sexually assaulted and murdered, some sheriffs have been coming forward and working with us behind the scenes.”
Homan also believes that the border situation was weighed heavily by voters when deciding who to cast a ballot for, and the fact that Trump won means that American people want something to be done about the crisis.
“We have a mandate. I think the American people just gave President Trump a mandate. That’s why he’s elected – to secure the border, save lives, and deport people, especially national security threats and public safety threats. So if you’re not going to help us, step aside, but don’t get in our way because there will be consequences,” he added.
They’ll be approaching the task in an organized way, with Homan saying that illegal aliens who have criminal convictions or charges will be their first targets. He emphasized that they will be conducting very careful enforcement operations rather than carrying out the doom-and-gloom massive raids and sweeps that many liberals have been envisioning. However, he cautions that everyone who is here illegally needs to be aware that their time is running out.
For those who are complaining about Trump kicking so many illegals out of the country, Homan has a message: the only reason we need a “massive deportation operation” is because the Biden administration allowed for “massive, never seen before illegal immigration” to occur in the first place.
He added that many of those who are here illegally may choose to leave on their own once it becomes clear there is no incentive to stay.
On Monday, Trump indicated on his Truth Social platform that he may declare a national emergency and use military assets to carry out his deportation plans.
A post by Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton claimed: “Reports are the incoming @RealDonaldTrump administration prepared to declare a national emergency and will use military assets to reverse the Biden invasion through a mass deportation program.”
Trump responded by writing “TRUE!!!”
