House Speaker Mike Johnson recently released a document outlining more than 60 times President Joe Biden and his administration have gutted border security and encouraged illegals to pour into the country. This happened after the White House tried to claim that House Republicans had an “anti-border security record” by voting to “eliminate over 2,000 border patrol agents and erode our capacity to seize fentanyl.”
According to Johnson’s press release, these were untrue and previously disproven. It also underscored Biden’s failure to secure the southern border as December saw a record-high of illegal crossings. The nation also acknowledged that the situation has escalated to a “migration crisis.”
“Since his first day in office, Biden has worked to undermine America’s border security systematically,” Johnson said. “On more than 60 occasions, he has manipulated the federal bureaucracy to open our borders to illegal immigrants, human trafficking, fentanyl, and potential terrorists. The result is a humanitarian and national security catastrophe. The President must use his executive authority to repair what he has broken. I am calling on him to do so.” He proceeded to cite 64 infractions when border security policy was undermined and illegal immigration consented. When he assumed office, Biden terminated the National Emergency at the Southwest border (Proclamation 9844), thereby halting the emergency construction of a border wall. All the other policies included “opening the borders.”

On May 11, last year, the present administration terminated the use of Title 42 policy expulsion authority. The said Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) public health order was originally enacted under President Donald Trump’s administration, which allowed U.S. authorities to expel migrants quickly back to Mexico or, in rare cases, to their countries of origin. The same month, the government ended the DNA testing program that verified adults who crossed the border with a child and claimed to be related to that child, promoting not only illegal immigration but also child exploitation and trafficking.
On Aug. 10, 2023, the Office of Management and Budget requested nearly $14 billion in emergency funding that perpetuates the administration’s open borders policies. Then on Sep 8, a proposed rule was promulgated to reverse Trump-era policy and allow Immigration Judges to administratively close or dismiss removal proceedings without any action, resulting in no decision denying asylum. A few months later, Biden announced the creation of a new “juvenile” docket within immigration courts which was so expansive, that it gives specialized treatment to 18, 19, and 20-year-old illegal aliens who should be deported through the expedited removal process.
On Dec 28, the Mexican government reported that their discussions focused on “regularizing” status – i.e., amnesty – for “Hispanic migrants who have been undocumented… and DACA beneficiaries” after a trip to Mexico by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. The most recent instance was back on Jan 3, 2024, when the State of Texas was sued for enforcing a recently enacted Texas state law that allowed Texas judges and magistrates to order illegal aliens to return to the foreign nation from which they entered.
After his border policies have allowed an estimated 1.7 million known “gotaways” to come into the United States unvetted, Biden claimed to be ready to secure the border.
“For too long, going back decades, the immigration system has been broken. It’s time to fix it. That’s why over two months ago I instructed members of my administration to work with a bipartisan group of Senators to – finally – seriously address the issue. And, that’s what they’ve done – working around the clock, through the holidays and over weekends. Now we’ve reached an agreement on a bipartisan national security deal that includes the toughest and fairest set of border reforms in decades. I strongly support it,” Biden said in a statement dated Feb. 4, referring to the bipartisan Senate national security agreement. According to reports, Biden says he is eager to sign the said Senate bill ostensibly designed to “shut down the border right now.”
“It will make our country safer, make our border more secure, and treat people fairly and humanely while preserving legal immigration, consistent with our values as a nation. It would give me, as President, a new emergency authority to shut down the border when it becomes overwhelmed,” he further said. Meanwhile, critics were quick to spot how the latest deficit spending deal the senators unveiled this weekend does anything but close the southern U.S. border. Per reports, the proposed $118 billion bill offers more than $60 billion for Kyiv, more than $14 billion for Israel, and $10 billion for aid in Gaza, the West Bank and Ukraine. Just roughly $20 billion set aside in the 370-page “Emergency National Security Supplemental” bill is earmarked for the U.S. border.
