The Biden administration has been dishonest with Americans about many pressing topics, from Joe’s involvement in his son Hunter’s shady business dealings that put national security at risk to the safety of COVID-19 vaccines. However, one of their biggest lies last year came in May, when Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas proclaimed: “I want to be very clear: our borders are not open.”
In fact, when he made his bold claim, the Libs of TikTok account on X wrote: “This might be the biggest lie of the year from the Biden regime.” Now it’s clear they were right, and it was just one of multiple occasions where administration officials have tried to deny that there are problems at the nation’s southern border.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is constantly repeating this false narrative, making comments like “The president has done everything that he can on his own to try to figure out how do we deal with what’s going on at the border” and “The president has done more to secure the border, to deal with this issue of immigration than anybody else. He really has.”
This is a huge delusion in the same vein as another Jean-Pierre gem, her claim that Joe has so much energy that “I can’t even keep up with him.” The truth is that on Biden’s watch, as of September, around 7 million illegal aliens had been encountered, with nearly 3 million released into the U.S. and counting – and that was before a record-setting November.
It’s understandable that they’d want to distance themselves from the absolute disaster that is going on right now. The Federalist co-founder Ben Domenech told Ashley Webster of Fox Business: “It’s just a blind spot for this entire White House, this entire administration, that would really prefer that they didn’t have to deal with any of the ramifications of the policy choices that they’ve made when it comes to the border and that Alexander Mayorkas has been so terrible at and actually implementing when it comes to the DHS policy involved.”
If the borders are not open, as the Biden administration wants us to believe, how exactly are record-setting numbers of migrants making their way into the country? How was November the busiest one on record at the southern border, with data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection showing that there were a quarter of a million migrant encounters there?
The Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security under President Barack Obama, Jeh Johnson, said that 1,000 illegal entries in one day was a crisis that “overwhelms the system”; we are now seeing 10,000 or more each day. In fact, the National Review reports that the number of illegal aliens who have made their way into the country since Biden became president is approximately equal to the population of Panama. In addition, it is more than the population of roughly half of American states and exceeds the population of every major city in the U.S. save New York, which itself has seen an influx of around 120,000 illegal immigrants since Biden took office.
Thanks to Biden administration border policies, the country is dealing with an unprecedented humanitarian, security and fentanyl crisis along the southern border, all of which has had major ramifications for American neighborhoods and will continue to affect them well into the future. The Biden administration can lie all they want, but the numbers and the reality on the ground show exactly how badly they are messing this up and how insecure the border really is right now.
